Giga Translations wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or voice control. This statement explains how the site is built, what we know doesn't work as well as it should, and how to tell us about a problem.
Our target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content easier to use for people with disabilities.
What we've done
- Structure. Every page has one main heading, headings in order, and landmarks for the header, main content and footer, so screen reader users can move around the page.
- Keyboard. All links, buttons, tabs and forms can be used with a keyboard, and focus is visible. A "skip to content" link appears first on every page.
- Color and contrast. Text and background colors were checked against WCAG contrast ratios during the build.
- Motion. Animated examples at the top of pages pause when they're off screen. If your device is set to reduce motion, they stop moving and show a still version instead.
- Images and demos. Images have text alternatives, and animated examples have a text label that describes what they show.
- Forms. Every field has a visible label, required fields are marked, and error messages are announced to screen readers.
- Languages. Text in other languages, such as the examples on our language pages, is marked with its language so screen readers can pronounce it correctly.
How we test
Each page is checked during the build with an automated browser test on desktop and mobile screen sizes, which covers headings, labels, contrast, image alternatives and layout at narrow widths. We also check keyboard use by hand. Date of first manual screen reader test
Known issues
- Some animated examples show their later steps only as the animation plays. The text label on each example describes the full example for screen reader users.
- The live office clocks on some pages update every second. They're marked so screen readers don't announce every change.
- Any issues found in a full audit before launch
