Reflowable or fixed layout
Most books work best as reflowable EPUBs: the text adapts to the reader's screen and font size, like a web page. Books where the layout carries the meaning, such as picture books, cookbooks and comics, need fixed layout, where each page stays exactly as designed.
Amazon KDP now accepts EPUB for Kindle, so one well-built EPUB covers Kindle and the other major stores. We tell you which format suits your book before we quote.
What we convert
From a single novel to a publisher's backlist.
From InDesign
Print layouts turned into clean EPUBs, with styles mapped to proper headings and text frames reordered for reading.
From Word
Manuscripts converted with tables, images, footnotes and fonts kept, and the formatting cleaned up along the way.
From PDF
Text extracted and rebuilt as reflowable content, with running heads, page numbers and hyphenation removed.
From printed books
Out-of-print and backlist titles scanned, run through OCR, proofread against the page and converted.
Fixed-layout EPUB
Picture books, cookbooks, comics and textbooks where every page must look exactly like the print edition.
Accessible eBooks
Alt text for images, real headings, a logical reading order and language tags, following EPUB accessibility guidelines.
What we check on every eBook
So the book passes store checks the first time and reads well on every device.
- EPUBCheck. The official validator, run on every file before delivery.
- Kindle Previewer. Checked on Kindle phone, tablet and e-reader views.
- Navigation. A linked table of contents, and footnotes that link both ways.
- Images. Sized for screens, sharp on high-resolution displays, with alt text.
- Scripts and characters. Accented letters, non-Latin scripts and right-to-left text displayed correctly.

Questions about eBook conversion
Which formats do you deliver?
EPUB 3, reflowable or fixed layout, which works for Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play Books and IngramSpark. We also deliver EPUB 2 or interactive PDF where a platform or client needs them.
Do I still need a MOBI file for Kindle?
No. Amazon KDP stopped accepting MOBI files for reflowable eBooks and now takes EPUB, so one well-built EPUB covers Kindle and the other main stores.
Can you convert a scanned or printed book?
Yes. We scan or take your scans, run OCR, proofread the text against the pages, and convert the result. This is how most backlist and out-of-print titles come back as eBooks.
Should my book be reflowable or fixed layout?
Reflowable suits text-led books, because readers can change the font size and the text adapts to any screen. Fixed layout suits picture books, cookbooks, comics and design-heavy textbooks. We'll recommend one when we see the book.
Can you convert books in other languages and scripts?
Yes, including right-to-left books in Arabic and Hebrew with the page direction set correctly, and books in Chinese, Japanese, Hindi and other scripts with the right fonts embedded.
Will the file pass store checks?
We run every file through EPUBCheck and check it in Kindle Previewer before delivery, which catches the errors that cause most store rejections.
