CustomerMy order was meant to arrive Monday. It's Thursday and nobody has called me.

Deliveries are handled by the courier, not us. I'm sorry. Let me check where it is and call you back by 3 p.m. Can you wait until Monday?

+25 Good choice. You owned the problem and gave a time.

When a game works better than a course

Game-based learning works best when people need to practice a decision, not memorize a fact: handling a complaint, spotting a safety hazard, following a procedure under time pressure. A scenario game lets learners try, make mistakes and see the result, then try again.

We start with what the learner should be able to do afterwards. The game mechanics come from that, not the other way around.

Types of learning games

From a ten-minute quiz game to a branching simulation.

  • Branching scenarios

Conversations and decisions where each choice leads somewhere different, with feedback at each step.

  • Software simulations

Practice in a copy of your system's screens, without touching live data.

  • Timed challenges

Quiz games with points, timers and leaderboards for product knowledge and compliance refreshers.

  • Hazard spotting

Learners search a scene for risks, such as a warehouse, kitchen or building site.

  • Drag-and-drop activities

Sorting, matching and sequencing tasks for schools and onboarding courses.

  • Score and progress reporting

Completion, scores and choices sent to your LMS, so you can see where learners struggle.

How a game project runs

You sign off the script before anything is built, because changes are cheapest on paper.

  1. Objectives

What learners should do differently afterwards, who they are and how long they have.

  2. Script and design

A game design document with every scene, choice, piece of feedback and score.

  3. Prototype

One playable scenario, so you can check the feel before the full build.

  4. Build and test

The full game, tested on browsers and devices and in your LMS.

    LMS testing QA
  5. Translate

Every language version translated, recorded and checked in the game by a native speaker.

What we need from you

Your team knows the subject. We turn it into a game.

  • Learning objectives. What learners should know or do by the end.
  • Source content. Procedures, policies, course material or real cases.
  • A subject expert. Someone who can check the script and answer questions.
  • Your LMS details. Which LMS, and whether it needs SCORM or xAPI.

Questions about educational games

Can the game run in our LMS?

Yes. We package games as SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 or xAPI, so they launch from your LMS and report completion and scores. We test the package in a SCORM test environment and, if you give us access, in your own LMS.

What does a learning game need from us?

Clear learning objectives, the source content, and a subject expert who can review the script. We write the game design and script from those.

Will it work on phones?

Yes. Games are built in HTML5 and run in any modern browser, on desktop, tablet and phone, without a plugin.

Can you translate a game we already have?

Usually, if we can get the source project. We translate the text and audio, adjust layouts for longer text, and test each language version in the game.

How much does an educational game cost?

It depends on the number of scenarios, the art style, audio and the number of languages. A quiz game built on a template costs much less than a custom branching simulation. We quote after a scoping call.
